Massachusetts Board of Real Estate Appraisers - Real Estate Directory

The Massachusetts Board of Real Estate Appraisers (MBREA) was founded in 1934 for the sole purpose of providing those in need with qualified people specializing in this field. Today, it is one of the largest statewide appraisal organizations in the country, training, educating, and designating men and women as appraisers. The MBREA grants two real estate appraisal designations—the MRA (General Designation) and the RA (Residential Designation). The MRA designated member is qualified to appraise all types of real estate. The RA designated member specializes in the residential field. To qualify, members must pass written examinations, validate years of professional experience, demonstrate their appraisal proficiency, and meet high standards of personal integrity. The MBREA has instituted a Voluntary Continuing Education program for MRA and RA designated members to ensure professional growth and development. To qualify for recertification, members must complete a minimum number of hours of approved education in a three-year cycle. The MBREA recognizes the importance of a comprehensive education program. Its instructors are designated members who have demonstrated both practical and teaching capabilities. As a result, students acquire knowledge and skills which have real-world, direct applications. Introductory and advanced courses and seminars with a practical approach to the appraisal process are presented at various locations throughout New England. Continuing education is offered during the year through special seminars designed to keep members abreast of changes in this dynamic industry. MBREA courses and seminars are approved by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Registration of Real Estate Appraisers for primary and or continuing education credits for licensure and license renewal. Many MBREA courses and seminars are also approved in Maine, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island.
