U.I.P.I. was founded in Paris, France, in 1923, by its first President Jean Larmeroux, under the original name "Union Internationale de la Propriété Foncière Batie- (UIPFB) - (International Union for Built Real Estate Property)". UIPI is now officially seated in Brussels (76, Rue du Lombard, Brussels 1000, Belgium). The International Union of Property Owners (UIPI-ASBL) is the association of the national non-profit organisations of real estate property owners, as well as of any other organizations or institutions, either national or international, for which the goals are, among others, the defence, the expansion, and the protection of private immovable property. The goals of U.I.P.I. are the following: a. Protection of the private real estate property rights in front of the states and the national, international and supranational organisations. b. Promotion of the institution of the right to private property, and especially to real estate property, as fruit of work, motive for savings, basic element for order and social prosperity, and a instrument for securing liberty. c. Elaboration and improvement of legal and economical tools for the realisation and the protection of the rights of private real estate property; d. Growth and development, de facto and de jure, of private real estate property in all the countries of the world.
