MIT Center for Real Estate - Real Estate Directory
The MIT Center for Real Estate was established in 1984 within the School of Architecture and Planning with a mission to improve the built environment, enhance the quality of the real estate industry, and serve the Institute as a focal point for real estate education and research. The real estate industry is vastly influential, building the structures and cities in which we live, and thus shaping our physical and social environments. The industry is also inherently multidisciplinary, drawing upon the fields of architecture, urban planning, civil and environmental engineering, economics, finance, accounting, operations research, information systems, and organizational behavior. The Center for Real Estate's interdisciplinary approach actively supports the MIT tradition of collaborating across disciplines to advance knowledge, then applying those advances to improving the world. The Center seeks to fulfill its mission through the operation of a specialized one-year master's degree program (MSRED) and the promotion of research, professional education, and the generation and exchange of real estate-oriented ideas that are befitting of a world-class institution for higher learning.
