University of Southern California Masters in Real Estate Development - Real Estate Directory
The mission of the School of Policy, Planning, and Development is to educate leaders and produce knowledge that improves problem solving on the most critical issues facing society. The ultimate goal is to contribute in a practical way to the betterment of communities here and abroad. SPPD offers five professional master's degree programs, two executive master's degree programs, a special master's program for international executives, two doctoral programs, and an undergraduate degree program. The five master's level programs—in Public Policy, Public Administration, Planning, Real Estate Development, and Health Policy and Management—join theory with practice and emphasize experiential and professional learning. The doctoral programs allow a select group of students to work closely with faculty on important areas of research and scholarly inquiry. Graduate-level students at SPPD have considerable latitude to design their own programs in order to pursue their specialized areas of interest and further their professional development. Undergraduates pursue the Bachelor of Science in Public Policy, Management, and Planning, which builds on a well-rounded liberal arts core with classes and practical training in policy, management, and planning in preparation for either graduate school or the job market. For mid-career professionals, SPPD offers the Executive Master of Health Administration, the Executive Master of Leadership, and the International Public Policy and Management program. USC is one of the nation's major research universities, and SPPD is a renowned contributor to the university's reputation. Much of the school's research is conducted through its centers, institutes and research groups. These include PPD Research, the lead research group of the school; the Bedrosian Center on Governance and the Public Enterprise; the Keston Institute for Public Finance and Infrastructure Policy; the Center on Philanthropy and Public Policy; the Center for Health Financing, Policy and Management; the Civic Engagement Initiative; the Lusk Center for Real Estate, within which is housed the Casden Forecast; METRANS, a two-university transportation research center; CREATE, the country's first Homeland Security Center of Excellence; the Tomás Rivera Policy Institute, the nation's premier Latino think tank; and within the Urban Growth and Development Group, the Center for Economic Development and the Population Dynamics Research Group. Graduates of SPPD hold important positions in government at all levels, in the business world, and in the nonprofit sector. Many remain closely associated with the school and play important roles in its leadership, research agenda, curriculum development, networking for students and graduates, and resource development.
